Privacy Policy

Last updated October 13, 2026. This policy covers roofingcalculator.io. We are not affiliated with roofingcalculator.com or any other roofing calculator site.

The calculator

The roofing calculator runs in your browser. The roof measurements, pitch, material choices and optional ZIP code you enter are used to compute your estimate on your own device. To let you bookmark or share an estimate, the calculator also puts those inputs (including the ZIP code, if you enter one) in the page address (URL). The calculator does not send them to us, and we strip them from the page addresses sent to Google Analytics, but anyone you share the link with can see them. If you use the address lookup, the address you type goes through our server to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service, which turns it into map coordinates. Our server keeps a cached copy of that result (the address and its coordinates, not who searched) for up to 30 days so repeat searches don't go to OpenStreetMap again. Your browser then sends only those coordinates to OpenStreetMap's Overpass service to find the building outline.

Information you choose to send

Some features ask for contact details, and each one is optional:

  • Callback request: if you enter a phone number on the calculator, we receive that number so a roofer can contact you about your project, as described next to the form. You can skip this and still see your full results.
  • Follow-up email: when you download the PDF estimate you can leave your email so a roofer can follow up. The PDF downloads to your device either way; we do not email it to you.
  • Contact and sponsor forms: we receive what you type (such as your name, email, company and message).

These submissions are delivered to us by email. If you agree to a callback, your phone number may be shared with a roofing partner serving your area so they can contact you. You can withdraw that consent at any time by replying STOP to a text or by contacting us.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand which pages are read and how the calculator is used. These tools set cookies and collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, plus a few events like using a calculator, downloading a PDF or sending a form (never what you typed into it). Page addresses are sent to Google Analytics without the calculator inputs. Clarity also records anonymized clicks, scrolling and mouse movement as heatmaps and session replays, with the text you type masked so it is never captured, and it sees the full page address. Microsoft's privacy statement covers how Clarity handles that data. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out add-on. Our host, Cloudflare, also processes standard request logs (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the site.

Bot protection

Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated spam. To do that, Turnstile may process your IP address and signals from your browser and device, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, through the contact page. We keep form submissions only as long as needed to respond and to keep basic business records.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
